How we store your paper and electronic files

All paper documents are stored on our premises securely in locked filed cabinets.  Unlike many firms, all sensitive electronic files related to your case are stored on our hard drives using strong encryption technology.  This extra measure of security protects your sensitive information against potential vulnerabilities such as Internet hackers and disgruntle employees.

Obsolete copies of all confidential documents are shredded with one quarter inch spacing, and the shredded paper is then disposed of in a manner that further prevents recovery of the sensitive information.

Our email Encryption Technology

Our firm uses Verisign PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) to secure email and transfer data in online conferences.  To have secure, encrypted electronic communication all parties to the communication must have a Personal Digital ID from Verisign.  60 day free PGP Digital ID trail is available from Verisign.  Under virtually all circumstances, this is plenty of time for us to work your case until completion (i.e., the time starting from when we receive your confidential submissions until when we deliver the final work product).  For more information on Verisign's Personal Digital ID, please visit their website at the following URL:  http://www.verisign.com/client/guide/index.html.

Alternate Email Encryption Methods

Two common ways to encrypt text documents are:
  1. If you have Microsoft Word, then do "save as" under the file menu, and on the "save as" pop-up window click on the "tools" menu, and click on "security options" (or "general options" in WORD 2000), then set a password to open the file; or
  2. Use a program called 'WinZip' to encrypt the file(s). NOTE: The version of WinZip you use must be backwards compatible to our current version. However, please inform us if a new version is available that we should update to.

If you do not have the Zip application do decompress ".zip" files then you can download it for free at (http://www.shareware.com/). Search for "Winzip".

You should download the latest free WinZip as indicated above as it has strongest encryption.

Internal Organizational Security Measures
